Content Management Systems, or CMS, allow the site administrator to edit content – text, images, etc. - of a website without the need for technical knowledge or ongoing maintenance costs.

I work with two content management systems a basic content management system which utilises an easy to use, what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWIG) online application. The other CMS is the industry-leading WordPress platform.

Basic CMS

The basic CMS can be integrated into any PHP-based website for a flat fee of £350 and includes a WYSIWIG interface for editing content in a similar way to Microsoft Word. The CMS also allows for asset management of image files, PDF files and other files.

The basic CMS can be retrospectively built into an existing website (providing the hosting server allows for PHP development).

WordPress CMS

Wordpress is a complex blogging platform that can be used for advanced content management. Also including a WYSIWIG interface and allowing for asset management and the incorporation of embedded video and Flash files.

Wordpress allows for new pages and categories to be created to expand the website as well as the ability to incorporate plug-ins to expand functionality, such as the inclusion of forums.
