Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
Search engine marketing, or SEM, is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in the results pages of search engines such as Google and Yahoo! Search. SEM goes hand in hand with good Search Engine Optimisation. Once you have a site that is build with optimisation for internet search engines in mind the site must be submitted to these search engines.
In order to receive a high ranking your site needs to be linked to websites the search engines consider to be reputable sources. SEM is the process of seeding your site with other sites that rank well and are relevant to your business.
Another facet of Search Engine Marketing is to manage paid for listings with search engines, many of whom offer programmes such as Google's AdWords to achieve this.
